Living in the city sort of feels like I'm on dysfunctional episode of Sesame Street. I live in an old brick building and I can walk to everything I need. My neighbors say hi and there's always lots of activity nearby. Although on Sesame Street there wasn't a woman with a badly matted mullet who shuffled approximately 20 laps around the block and then ate a slice of pizza at the same pizza joint EVERY DAY. I also doubt Maria had to step over a puddle of puke on her way to the grocery store on Sunday morning.

There are certainly pros and cons to living here so completely in the middle of the city.

Pros:
8 minute walk to the gym
15 minute walk to work
3 minute bike to the gym
7 minute bike to work
In my neighborhood: a variety of races and cultures, broad ranges of sexualities, varied income levels
Donut shop, 5 minute walk
Downtown, 10 minute walk
It is very quiet on the third floor (shockingly so)

Cons:
There is never, ever total silence as compared to the 'burbs
The recycling/garbage is a terrifying 4 flights of stairs down the fire escape on slippery old wooden steps
One washer and one dryer for 21 apartments
There isn't anyone to complain to about stepping over puke on the way to the grocery
There's only one person to blame when the cheese is all gone
