Good news peeps, GOOD NEWS. I found an apartment. Wednesday night I felt really hopeless about the whole apartment hunting project. I cried a little bit and then I decided to suck it up and move forward. I'm sure there are plenty of people who've looked longer than six weeks for an apartment. The next morning I got to work and I checked craigslist once before 8:30 and lo and behold someone had posted about a perfect sounding apartment for $650. I had been thinking really hard about that dollar amount lately because that's how much I would LIKE to pay (or less) but I had doubts about ever finding anything that price. So I emailed her. I got really lucky because I was the first person to email her and I was able to make an appointment for noon. She promised not to show it before then. It was perfect. I walked in and it was PERFECT. I filled out an application right there. Now I'm in the agonizing waiting process. I'm trying to just assume I'll get it. I can't imagine why not.
My good luck didn't end there. I emailed my usual tribe of family and friends and my dear friend from Bozeman replied with "how about we celebrate over a donut tomorrow morning?" Which I assumed was a joke or a tease but it wasn't! She's in town briefly for an annual gathering with her college friends and she managed to sneak in an hour with me. How lucky I am! This is someone near and dear to me I only get to see once or twice a year so it was a real treat.
Today I went to Value Village, my favorite place to shop because I'm cheap and thrifty. For $27 I got a brand new steamer/rice cooker (my old one broke and I can't steal mom's obviously), a long sleeved Ben Sherman blouse, a pair of gap jeans that fit like they were made for me, an H&M white cotton tank top with sequins on it, and a new white pillowcase to embroider.
Some weeks you've just got it I guess.
