Who doesn't love a chiming clock? Oh how they remind us of the days of yore. Their gentle chime soothes our minds and gently reminds us of passing time. Or so my kitty-sitting clients think.
I am convinced they are the gong of the prince of darkness. Last night I went to bed a 9pm. I feel asleep quickly. DEEPLY asleep. It was heaven. I was so tired and really needed the rest. I was woken up 15 minutes later by a very loud BING BING BING BONG, BONG BONG, BING BONG.
Sigh. I decided to ignore it because I was practically paralyzed I was so tired. That was the wrong choice. I was woken up every 15 minutes until 12:15 when I dragged my tired, saggy underpanted-self across the freezing cold house to set both clocks to "quiet". That shut up their evil ways.I am exhausted today. Of course after I got back to the bed I couldn't get back to sleep and the warmth that I had spent hours creating was gone from my blanket-womb. So I wiggled around in an attempt to create warmth. Then I got too warm and had to kick off my fleece pants (I put those on after turning off the chimes) and socks. Then I started getting anxious about not getting enough sleep, so therefore I couldn't fall back asleep. When it felt like I finally dozed off for good, the alarm went off at 6:30. I realized that since I was driving to work I could probably get away with sleeping until 7. Too late for that. I was awake.
I blame all of my mistakes today on a giant grandfather clock and a wimpy little grandfather clock-wannabe. Curse them! Who in their right mind needs to be reminded of the time every 15 minutes!? Doesn't that stress them out! How can my friends sit in their home and listen to the passage of time? Doesn't it make them nuts that they chime all night long?
