A Calm Day

Another fine Sunday. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be if I could go get a Christmas tree. Oh well, can't have everything.

Today I have -
done laundry
taken a car load of crap to Goodwill
dishes
walked to the library to return books
sewed-up holes in 3 shirts
made a mini-muffin movie
Ate two soy hot dogs

I love it when my day is a combination of chores and relaxation. Which today has been so far. I will admit that I miss the Sunday Night Dinner that I used to have with my dear friend now living in Bozeman. I know, I know, I could start my own Sunday Night Dinner, but it's really not the same without her. It was such a nice end to my day of domestic chores. I always felt ready to face the week after our meal.

I guess I'm a big fan of tradition.

I read an article today about "intuitive eating". I am a believer in this theory. Basically what it means is that you only eat when you are hungry and you eat what you're craving. It's the non diet- diet. It makes so much sense. I'm not super worried about my weight. For most of my life I've been a healthy weight. I might fluctuate 10-20 lbs here and there, but mostly I'm healthy. I just really like the theory because I hate it when I'm hungry and all I want is say - a grilled cheese sandwich. If that's what I'm craving, shouldn't I eat that? I don't crave that ALL the time. Sometimes I crave sweet potatoes and kale. Which is what I'm craving right now. That's what I'll eat for dinner. Roasted sweet potatos, kale and BBQ tempeh (leftover PCC take-out!). I think us Americans have forgotten that our bodies are smart enough to figure out what we need and how much. I'm allowing myself to NOT feel guilty about wasting food. If I can't finish my plateful, then I'm no longer gonna feel guilty about it. If it's tasty and I want to keep eating, I can always save it for later.
