Spring? Is that you?

Ohhhhhh la la la la la. It felt like spring this morning! I mean, it's gray and cloudy out but I swear when I left this morning something had changed overnight. The birds were chirping! It wasn't freezing-ass cold! There was a subtle hint of something fresh in the air. I'm so glad I'll be getting to Japan in the spring. The sakura are so pretty.
My coworkers are attempting to get a proposal out today. They are freakishly neurotic. I was not allowed to put the courier sticker on because "I might not put it on the right spot". Once in awhile there are times I am left speechless by how ridiculous they are. Give_ME_A_BREAK. However, much like my family, I adore them despite their neurosis.
I have Japanese class tonight. Another Thursday night spent feeling panicked by my extreme inability to speak Japanese. I am pretty limited to very basic questions and answers such as - Where is the toilet? How much does this cost? What is that thing over there? What is your name? My name is Christabel. I will continue learning the language once I'm there. I think learning languages was much faster and easier in high school since I had class for an hour every day. I wish it was that cheap and easy and free to learn a language as an adult. Now we have to pay mega-bucks for much less time.
I don't know if I can handle eating my soggy PB&J sandwich and slightly bruised banana for lunch today. I don't know if I can stomach it. I feel like I need something more substantial.

Date: 2006-02-23 07:57 pm (UTC)heh heh that is about all I knew when I went, and I did absolutely fine. And don't be afraid to ask bystanders for help - they are usually incredibly eager to do so anyways.... So many times I had just stopped on the street for a second wondering if I was going in the right direction, and within seconds someone eager to try out a little English would be by my side asking if I needed help!

A lot of people I knew used to get upset when Japanese people would talk to them just so they could get a free English lesson, but I always took advantage of it... asking them for restaurant recommendations, sights to see, or other stuff like that. I figured one good turn deserves another, eh! ;)
