I really love summer.
I hated it for awhile there. Actually, I hated it most when I was an undergrad. For those who don't know/don't remember, I was a chubby-butt during my last two years of school. I swam on the swim team for the first two years and then stopped. I kept eating like I was swimming four hours a day and then proceeded to gain the freshman 50. I've since lost the weight, but I learned the hard way that you can't eat like a teenager or a competitive swimmer when you're neither.
Now that I'm approaching 30, my metabolism wants me to puff out again; but triathlon seems to tame it.
So I believe the reason that I used to hate summer was because when you carry more weight, then you feel hotter. In addition, it's miserable to buy decent looking summer clothes when you're a plus size. Especially when you're a poor undergrad living in Olympia where you can either be a hipster or a hippie. More than anything it probably had to do with my general attitude about everything back then. It was also blazing hot the two summers I lived down there. I hated to sweat too. I wasn't used to it. I was used to swimming where you just don't feel yourself sweating. Swimming is extremely enjoyable for me so it doesn't usually feel like work.
So now that I love summer again I really miss summer vacation. Going to work on these gorgeous days is hard. I just wish I could be outside playing instead. My schedule would be something like this:
8am wake
8:15 breakfast
8:45 pet cat
9 put on play clothes
9:30-1pm play outside (biking, hiking, swimming, walking)
1:15pm nap and snack
2:15 pm lunch
3:15 pm swing in hammock and read, drink lemonade
4:30 pm shower
5:15 pm buy groceries for dinner
6:30 pm prepare dinner and eat
7:30 pm 2nd outdoor activity
8:30 pm wash up
9 pm play with cat
9:30 pm check email, play on computer
10:30-11 pm bedtime
repeat
